Liberty Mutual Insurance is looking for an enthusiastic person with a background in administrative work to fill our Insurance Assistant role.
As a member of the Claims Support Team, you will perform various support duties and processes insurance transactions, such as responding to internal and external requests for information and preparing documents, policy information and files for additional handling by other Claim Associates. Additionally, you will perform other related support duties as requested, such as processing mail and assisting customers, and follow procedures and applies intermediate-level administrative skills and insurance knowledge to accomplish both routine and non-routine tasks and duties.

. Candidates who are selected for this position will be trained remotely and should reside within a reasonable commute of our Plano, TX or Portland, OR hub office to attend occasional collaborative activities with your team, as needed .
**Though primary physical hub locations for this department are Plano and Portland the position is open to any location within a driving distance to a Liberty Mutual office. 100% remote positions will be considered for employees with prior experience in an office environment with workers compensation or casualty claim handling experience.
Responsibilities:
Reviews, evaluates and categorizes incoming documents; verifies information for accuracy/appropriateness and follows up with others for missing or questionable data; prepares various methods of media for distributing to business partners and outside contacts.
Enters and retrieves information of varying complexity using computer systems and applications to update records and various financial activities, obtain information from others and respond independently to most questions and problems.
Uses intermediate skills and business knowledge to prepare correspondence and process other insurance transactions to provide customer service and support efforts to acquire and retain profitable business.
Performs other related support duties as requested, such as processing mail and/or varied media formats (e.g., flash drives, CD's and audio recordings), assisting customers, scanning and photocopying.
Provides informal guidance to less experienced associates and provides back-up support in the absence of others.
Key responsibilities include mail and document sorting/handling or processing varied media formats (e.g., flash drives, CD's and audio recordings) being committed to claims files.
Additional job responsibilities:
Research and resolve routine issues and problems.
Routinely contacts and responds to inquiries from managers, employees, business partners and external customers/vendors in order to process financial transactions timely and accurately.
Maintains appropriate logs for recording and tracking financial transactions.
Review and validate data elements to ensure accuracy for compliance protocols.
Performs other support related duties as requested.
Qualifications:
High school diploma (or equivalent) and 1-2 years of customer service and/or administrative experience
Dependability, attention to detail, ability to follow/interpret procedures, and employ reason to accomplish non-routine tasks and duties.
Intermediate level of skill required to open, create and modify various documents using the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., documents, spreadsheets, e-mail, etc.) and enter/retrieve information using various applications/systems.
Ability to effectively exchange routine and non-routine information verbally and in writing and apply knowledge of the department's policies and procedures.
