Think that hair styling is only a temporary job some people will do until they find something that really interests them? Well, it might be a temporary stop over for the occasional person that gets out of high school and goes into it because they are interested in it at that time, but for many other people it is a great career for them. The hours have a habit of floating each week, but the average pay comes out to more than what most servers or bartenders will make per year. Hair styling is a little more specialized than a bartender or server job because these people usually need to go to school without question to learn how to dye, cut and style the customers hair.
People are very particular about their, especially when it comes to the money they have to pay in order to get their hair done the way they want it. Special occasions are usually events where people want to look their best, so the perfect hair is essential in completing their look for the event. If the customer’s hair does not come out right, it can often end in the customer being very unhappy and they might never come back to the business they went to. This is where customer service comes in. Besides needing to know what they are doing and how to do it right, the hair stylist has to make the customer feel relaxed and confident in the hair stylist. Where their hair is concerned, it can be quite easy for a customer to be uncomfortable from the worry that their hair might not turn out. A good hair stylist knows what he or she is doing and can usually chat with the customer and make them feel relaxed while they work on the customer’s hair.
This can be quite the career for anyone who loves to style hair and converse with their customers. In some ways it is a simpler job than it is to be a server or a bartender. Servers and bartenders usually have multiple customers to deal with at the same time. A hair stylist only has to deal with one customer at a time so they have the opportunity to get into a full conversation with the customer. The hair stylist can only deal with one person’s hair at a time so there is never a worry about having to make more than one customer happy at the same time. Another plus that hair stylists have is that they don’t usually work nights because most people tend to get their hair cut during the day, though weekend days can often be taken up. For career hair stylists who stay with the same business with a long period of time, they tend to get first pick of the hours they want to work, so they can usually decide if they want to work on the weekends or not. If they stay long enough, get the years of experience made and can prove that they are great at dealing with the customers properly and consistently, they might even get the chance to manage their own store. OF course, there is always the chance that they can eventually open up their own store in the future.
