What is the difference between the back office customer service representative and the front office customer service representative? Well, if one thinks about it for a moment, the answer seems quite obvious. A front office customer service representative is someone who deals with the customers in person. These are people who work at the front desk of a hotel, servers, bartenders, sales people and so on. These people's jobs are to greet the customer, make them feel welcome and then help with their needs as best as they can. It is all about customer service in a possible way, in this case.

A back office customer service representative is someone who deals with the customers on the phone, or sometimes by e-mail. These are the people who work at the call and contact centers, are computer support specialists, or anyone else who does not deal directly with the customers in person. These people spend most of the day on the phone helping the customers when they phone in. They will give advice, suggestions and answers that will be helpful to the customers who call in.

In many cases, a back office job will ask for a person to have certain qualifications and education in order to apply for the job. Often, when it is a specialized business, such as a computer business, they will ask that the applicants have a degree in computer science because they want their employees to have full knowledge about the goods and services that the business is selling to their customers. When qualifications like these are asked for, the pay is usually quite decent, because the business is essentially paying the employee for having knowledge that can be of use to their customers. There are also other jobs that do not require their applicants to have certain education and these jobs usually pay a little less than the jobs that do. It all depends on the back office job that the person applies for.

Regardless of what the back office customer representative job is, there are opportunities that the employee can benefit from. A person who starts out with a low pay that does their job well can earn raises after a certain period of time. People who remain with the business long enough, work hard and constantly deliver the top customer service that the business expects from them, can eventually get a promotion to another position that offers higher pay. This is where a person can see how easy it really is to turn a job like this into a career. It just takes hard work and dedication to the work in order to get noticed. The business doesn’t want to promote people who don’t really care about the business or the customers. They will want to promote people who do care and who do excellent work. This way, their business will continue to be a success because their customers are happy and they continue to come back to the business for their needs again and again.

What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
